El Paso, Texas, December 2, 2002 Capstone Productions Inc. has just completed a new short video, "The Spirit of El Pasos Mission Trail," produced in cooperation with The El Paso Mission Trail Association. The nine-minute video, designed to promote the Mission Trail to visitors, is a colorful look at the history, heritage, and culture of the region. It also shows the many special events and activities that bring visitors to El Pasos Mission Trail every year. The program is produced and narrated by El Paso filmmaker Jackson Polk. Production funding was provided by the El Paso County Commissioners.
"Many people are surprised to learn that The El Paso Missions are older than the California missions and the Alamo in San Antonio," said Mary Davis, Director of The El Paso Mission Trail Association. "We think this new video will help explain our four centuries of history to visitors and residents, and promote the Mission Trail as a tourist destination."
Capstone Productions Inc. is an El Paso-based producer of heritage television programs about the El Paso del Norte region. Davis said Capstone Productions Inc. will sell the video and donate a portion of the proceeds to support Mission Trail projects of The El Paso Mission Trail Association.
In order to highlight the many attractions along the El Paso Mission Trial, Jackson Polk shot digital video of special events and activities over a three-year period. "In 'The Spirit of El Pasos Mission Trail,' we show the beautiful Missions of Ysleta and Socorro in El Paso, and Guadelupe in Juarez, plus the historic Spanish Presidio Chapel at San Elizario," said Polk. "Its a quick museum tour designed to give the audience an overview of the El Paso Mission Valley. The hope is that the public will want to see more and visit the Missions." Capstone may also produce a longer version of the program for broadcast on PBS.
"The Spirit of El Pasos Mission Trail" will have its first public screening on December 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., during an open house at the Hal Marcus Gallery, Mesa at Yandell in Downtown El Paso. The public is invited. www.elpasogold.com .
