EL
PASO GOLD: Gunfights of the Old West
El Paso, Texas -- Capstone Productions Inc. announces the distribution of its newest home video program,"El Paso Gold: Gunfights of the Old West." The half-hour program shows dramatic reenactments of six legendary El Paso gunfights. Famous in the Old West, the shootouts took place from 1881 to 1896, when El Paso was the wildest of frontier towns. "El Paso Gold: Gunfights of the Old West" is narrated by nationally-known author and storyteller Leon Metz, with reenactments by El Paso's Six Guns & Shady Ladies. The performances were digitally recorded and mastered in stereo by Capstone Productions Inc., an award-winning television production company based in El Paso.
Two of the reenactments, the famous "Four Dead in Five Seconds Shootout" and the "John Wesley Hardin Shooting," were recorded at a frontier town provided by El Rancho Escondido Restaurant on the outskirts of El Paso. Other famous gunfights were reenacted and recorded in downtown El Paso, on the exact locations of the original events. These include the "Bill Johnson Shootout," "Dallas Stoudenmire Gunfight," "Alice Abbot Gunfight with Etta Clark," and "John Selman Gunned Down."
Slow-motion special effects allow the details of these dramatic gunfights
to be recounted step-by-step, giving the modern day viewer some idea just how wild and
dangerous the Old West was in El Paso. Digital editing and a stereo soundtrack produce a
realistic, educational, and entertaining program for the home video market. The program
was produced with the assistance of El Paso's Camino Real Hotel, which allowed its east
entrance, the original location of the downtown shootings, to be used. Period saloon piano
music was performed by David Bourne of California. VHS videos are for sale at several
locations in El Paso, including the Hal Marcus Gallery at 2430 N. Mesa Street, and on the El
Paso Gold website at www.elpasogold.com .
