El Paso Electric Co. Donates to Heritage Television Project

El Paso, Texas ----- The El Paso County Historical Society announced today that El Paso Electric has made a corporate contribution to the Society for the El Paso Gold Television Project, a partnership between the Society and Capstone Productions Inc. Capstone is an El Paso-based television documentary company now producing El Paso heritage television programs.

"Contributing to our communities is an express part of our corporate mission statement. El Paso Electric is pleased to assist the Society and Capstone Productions promote El Paso’s history through this documentary TV series," said Gary Hedrick, El Paso Electric President and CEO.

The El Paso County Historical Society is the premiere non-profit historical group in El Paso. "Our mission is to promote and preserve the history of the El Paso area," said Hughes Butterworth, Society President. "The El Paso Gold TV documentaries give us a vehicle to reach a wider regional and national audience."

El Paso Electric’s tax-deductible contribution will help the Society and Capstone produce a program series planned to include 13 hour-long PBS documentaries about the historical, cultural and social aspects of El Paso’s heritage. The Society will provide research and administration of the series, and is now accepting tax-deductible donations to fund the project from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

"The peoples and cultures of the Pass have not only determined El Paso’s history, their contributions have also helped shape the destiny of North America," said Jackson Polk, Executive Producer of Capstone Productions. Potential program topics range from ancient Indian settlements to Spanish conquistadors and Missions, cowboys, Old West gunfighters, military battles and bases, geological features of the El Paso area, and even lost treasure.

Capstone Productions Inc. has already produced five heritage documentaries about the El Paso area, including the award-winning "Legends of El Paso’s Mountains," which aired on El Paso’s PBS station, KCOS.
